The Special Olympics: a post by Paul T

Special Olympics is a sporting organisation for people with an intellectual disability started in America 69 years ago and founded by Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

There are no age limits that prevent people (athletes) from training and competing. You can take part from age eight up till adulthood it is about making new friends and meeting new people, not just medals.

National Games happens every 4 years, and World Games every 2 years.

I have been a Special Olympian Athlete after joining the sporting organisation in 2011. I competed at my first SOGB National Summer Games in Bath in 2013 made new friends and met new people. I played football against sides from England and Scotland.

I met some famous celebrities like Colin Salmon and other celebrities like Susan Boyle at the Olympics Event.
